TESTING IS COMPLETE!!!

It’s always such a relief to be finished with ISTEP!  Now we try to get back into a routine.  Yes, unfortunately that includes homework.  We have 2 interruptions this week—Wednesday is ½ day, and we have a Field Trip on Friday.  These are the kinds of breaks in the routine that the students LOVE!

Progress Reports are in this week’s Friday folders.  Please discuss them with your students.  A reading contract may be attached if he/she has not received an 80% on the required ACC test.  This contract must be signed and returned each day.

Friday is Picture Day.  Students will be allowed to be out of uniform if they are dressed-up (but not dressed down).  We want to look nice on the field trip too!

Trash bag pick up is this Saturday from 8:00-12:00 noon.

Class Work

Religion – We will have our first Unit test on Tuesday.  We began reviewing in class last week.  We will remind the students to take their books home on Friday and Monday.  Please help your child study for this test by going over the Unit Review and the highlighted parts of the first 4 chapters.  They will NOT be able to use their books for this test.

Reading – We will be reading Pipiolo and the Roof Dogs this week.  The quiz will be on Friday as usual.

Spelling – The Spelling words will have the er, ir vowel sounds.  The test will be on Friday as usual.

Math – We are going back to the very beginning: Chapter 1.  This chapter is about place value.

Science – We just finished looking at the parts of a plant, and now we will begin studying responses and adaptations.

English – We will continue to review subject and predicate while also learning about the subject in imperative sentences.  We will also be working on a Personal Narrative piece for publication (grade).

Social Studies – A huge thank you to the parents who made (or tried to make) our salt dough and donated cardboard.  The maps look wonderful, and it was a great break from testing!  This week we will begin learning the location of all the states using a fun website.  We will also start some election “stuff”.
