QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION

 

  1. In the first reading the Apostles get into trouble for what they are teaching, how do you think you would feel if you had to go to jail because of what you believed?

 

  1. In what way has God set you free to honor him more fully?

 

  1. How do you explain why God sometimes delivers you out of hardships, but at other times he allows you to go through them?

 

  1. The second reading from Revelations is a reading of praise for Jesus who gave His life for us; do you think that we sing God’s praises enough?  How can we praise God better?

 

  1. Why do you think Peter and the others went back to their fishing nets after the Resurrection?  What would you have done?

 

  1. When you are really upset or disappointed where do you go, and what do you do?

 

  1. If you had been Peter and knew you had blown it by recently denying Jesus, how would you feel when he appeared?

 

  1. What would you have felt after Jesus asked you three times if you loved him?

 

  1. How does the Gospel give you hope for a restored relationship with a family member or friend who has let you down?  How hard is it for you to forgive those who have hurt you?

 

  1. What is the closest you have come to “throwing in the towel” and going back on your promise to follow Jesus?

 

  1. After the resurrection, people recognize Jesus in the breaking of the bread.  What does that say about our celebration of the Eucharist?
